The Immigrant Body: How a body learns to survive before it learns to belong.

The Immigrant Body is an editorial zine that explores immigration as a physical experience rather than a bureaucratic one. Rooted in my own journey after moving from Brazil to the United States, the project examines how uncertainty, legal precarity, and constant adaptation shape the body long before they shape identity. Through research, personal narrative, and visual documentation, the zine reflects on the tension between trying to live an ordinary life and existing within systems that make stability feel provisional. Created at the threshold of graduation, the work captures a body in transition, learning how to survive while waiting to belong.
